I helped unload our U-haul of stuff from West Virginia today.

“Oh look! A ladder.  That will be useful for putting those last couple of piece of drywall up on the ceiling in the dining room.  And here’s our screw gun, too.”

“There’s Dan’s dress shoes.  They still look so new.”

“That mattress still has a sheet on it.  It’s like a testimony to how fast our lives changed.”

“Ouch.  That one hurts.  There is the little table Dan made for his computer so that he could work from bed while recovering from surgery.”

“I thought he threw that car seat out!”

    “Why did we save this?”

“I forgot the dryer was starting to rust like that.”

“Oh! What am I going to do with all these clothes!!”

“I know where I want to put that.”

    “That microwave is filthy!”

Watching those pieces of our life together going past me into a life where Dan is no more, was difficult to say the least.  So many memories, so much love, so much fun and happiness . . .

One thing remains the same – God was part of our life then and God is part of our lives now.  He is faithful and His promises are true.  He will never leave us or forsake us.  He will provide and protect.  We have but to trust in Him.

  • Wow, that is a hard day. Cannot imagine. When someone is so much a part of you it makes it so much harder when they are not there. I continue to pray that God will make you strong. You need superpowers. Wonder Mom or something like that.
I have two new friends in my life. I inherited two cats from a lady. I have been four years without pets so it is fun to have them around again.

  • Did you get everything from WV?
We were remembering when we visited you before Danny finished the back porch and how your laundry was outside. 🙂 we also remember packing the attic!!!!!

  • You have been busy unpacking the things from W.VA. At least now you have a bigger house — and more room for them. Maybe they will even find a place of their own so they know where they belong!! It is SO good to have everything together again.

Glad to hear that the painting went so well. It’s hard to believe that the helpers are really at that stage. That is good news.

Oh, yes, you see so many things that still need to be done — but one by one — Be sure to let us know when moving day is so we can be remembering you all.

The dark clouds I see out to the south indicate that the weather prediction for rain today could be an accurate prediction. Glad my grass got cut yesterday.
I would love to be doing something outside, but right now I have to go through shelves full of boxes that have been “stored” for some time. Now is the time to sort through and dispose of what is no longer needed.

Blessings, day by day, and moment by moment. Love, Gram E.
